Arline is a gardner too!

Happy Birthday Daughter One

These are two of my favorite women.
My grandmother (father's mother) and my first born daughter.
Today is Daughter's birthday.
How old is she? Well she is legal to do anything she wishes, except draw Social Security.
I love her (and I miss my grandmothers, both of them).

wealth

I am now the proud owner of two operating MacBooks.

Neither are new, but both work well, thanks to a few new parts here and there.

The new keyboard on my 13" book, took away several bad habits of that machine. The other is finally able to go online.

One will be converted to a music router, to replace an ancient desktop.

I have a family member who refers to me as being "rich." Guess that must be true, though the stats don't agree.

Wealth is mostly in your head, thinks I.

forests

We think of Oregon and Idaho as being forests and trout streams.

And that is true, there are areas like that. But there are huge expanses of desert too. Some think desert is ugly and waste. But some of us find great beauty.

So just a few miles from where we camped last weekend, the pine trees give way to sagebrush. No Juniper, just sage and desert grasses.

Just as a cold winter makes you appreciate spring and a hot summer fall, so the deserts make you appreciate the forests, and as the forests give way to the ever present deserts, there is beauty all around!

It was a good weekend, but our sleeping equipment needs some updating. Our sleeping bags were new when Jimmy Carter was president.
